got the pulley bolt off, here's the old pump. engine is fubar
i gotta change my oil pump, and like most import pumps its behind the damper pulley. how do i safely lock the ---- up? can i just feed rope into the plug hole, remove the cam, and just start wrenching on it? i want to hydrolock it, but my dad says no, i'm gonna snap rings and ----... rope seems like the best option
filled #1 cyl with some rope, worked like a charm. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...x/oilpump1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...x/oilpump2.jpg has some surface rust like it sat on a shelf with no dessicant paper, and not in a bag for a while. also looks like it was never primed properly well, turns out that my timing cover has a crack behind the water pump, it was pryed NOT BY MEfrom the engine with a chisel that took a huge chip out of the oil feed to the crank/head, so i was pissing oil/coolant slush all over my inner fender. while running, before oil/water mix, my rod bearings are all apparently fucked. woohoo! noose time :X |

You can use rope, it works good and wont wreck anything. I would make sure its on its compresson stroke so no valves would be open, just in case.
