cooling issues, right. well, to put is bluntly, im puling my hair out trying to figure this ---- out. i have a 89 civic stock everything(the beater car)

anyways, i have replaced:

thermostat
radiator cap
radiator and
all of the hoses

the water pump is only 30,000- miles old. the upper hose is getting up to normal temp, coolant is overflowing into the reservior, and isnt going back into the system. anyone have any suggestions?

and to top it all off, the ------ head gasket just blew....white smoke=embarrasing

ah....i think you answerd your own quisten, with the headgasket jus blew

 

not entirely true....after i cooled down a bit, i went a tinkered with it a little more. the coolant was surging and not going back before i thought the head gasket went. it might just be leaking a little bit, i dunno.... and its still surging into the reservior....

im about to say ---- it, and just put in one of the LS's laying around...

 

what do u mean the coolant was surging?

 

it is like there's too much, so the radiator cap opens, letting the coolant into the reservior tank.

if i keep driving it, it'll seep out of the top of the reservior and out onto the road. and the coolant isnt being sucked back into the system like it should
