Getting power from a d series

I know its funny to see power and d series in the same sentence, but.....turbo is not an option for me anymore, so are their some ways to get good power increases out of my d16y7. I have a cheasy intake and exhaust which are cool I guess, but what else can I do? Is a mini me swap worth it, or any tuning or timing tricks, bigger injectors? ANy of that stuff get decent results. I have 106, I would like at least 130's if possible or better. Just to be able to hang with the mini vans if nothing else.

umm trying to squeeze hp out of a d16 n/a is like a one legged man in a foot race, its pointless and ull always lose

Thats what I've heard, but a swap is out and I just need a bit more for sanity sake. I cant stand having that car that looks fast but sucks. Any suggestions.

sell it and buy something a little quicker, like a prelude si, a gsr or a turbo dsm.

Thats always an option I guess. I just have grown fond of my little civic. And I havent had it too long. Just sad that it takes so much to get them moving. Is a mini me swap worth it, bang for the buck wise

Thats the route I'm taking with my little D too. What inspection station is going to notice the difference between the head that came off your origional engine, or a Vtec honda head? Probably not many. SO I say go for it, especially if your current engine is DPFI. Upgrade that biatch to MPFI. ;)

Re:Getting power from a d series

I'm not sure what dpfi and mpfi stand for. I have a d16y7 in a 96 dx sedan. How much does a mini me cost. I guess it will be the vtec head, ecu, wire harness... what else will I need. And is it a suck to perform the change or not too bad.

Re:Getting power from a d series

MPFI is multi point fuel injection and DPFI is dual point fuel injection... Never mind what I said. Lol I didn't know we were talking 96 yr. car. You've already got MPFI. A mini me swap isn't too bad. You'll want to stay OBD1 so getting a head off of like a d16z6 should be a pretty basic install.
