its stuck? :1 lol
i took out every bolt i can find thats holding the damn thing. its all out of the car. i tried prying it open put it feels like its still grabbing on to something. am i missing something obvious, or wtf?!?! i dont wanna bust the housing or anything, but the thing wont budge. so wtf?!!? |

take the starter off if its stuck to the engine
if you can't get the transmission housing off the clutch housing, thats because there is a snap ring holding the transmission housing to the counter shaft. look in the honda manual |

Gotta remove the snap ring like he said. Since it's your first time it probably won't be easy.

THere is also a bolt that goes the other direction down by where the shift linkage connects to the trans.

there are the 2 or three boltson the side of the case too that need to come off, two have a ball and spring and the other is for reverse i believe!

ok the starter was holding it, but not its stuck in place again. im guessing thats the snap ring holding it? i can turn it to each side but it wont come off.
so to take the transmission off i need to remove the snap ring. hmmm now im lost, after reading bone's post. lets clarify, i just want to transmission off. so wtf is holding it now? theres no need to get the clutch housing off for the tranny to come out right? help! |

You have it in a bind, level and split.
Worst case........ remove the pressure plate bolts thru the starter opening, this is NOT gonna be fun getting the clutch off the input shaft. |

yeah what the other guys said, just man the ---- up and pull it off. nothing is holding it on there except the input shaft that is going into the clutch disk. just pull like a mofo.

whoo i got the SOB out, it was at an angle sort of, straightened it out and out it came.
now i have to wait for some free time to check everything. at least the none of the cylinders seemed cracked like my other block :X |

LOL I remember once I could not remove one of my axles from the civic. I had to remove the tranny, and pry the axle from the top and bottom. What happened was that the retainer clip was damaged and wouldnt allow the axle to bemome detached.
