Default Forged Rod Question

I just learned about notching the block to install forged rods in a D16z6. Are all forged rods like this or is it just the H-beam from eagle. Are there any rods out there that fit a z6 without having to notch the block?

I-beam rods. They are close, but they clear. Notching isn't a big deal. Why are you scared to notch it?

I just have never done this before. I'm worried about the notching making the block unbalanced if it would at all. This will be my second time rebuilding, but the first time was a ring job on z6 pistons. Is notching something i can do myself or a shop must do?

The block doesn't spin so you don't have to worry about it being imbalanced. :P

You can do it yourself very easily. Just take your time and don't get too crazy with the grinder. I believe Endyne or someone has a very good writeup on it....I'll try to find it.

EDIT: The old one....

been using that link alot with the Baby8 build-up. Also note when opening the oil feed holes, the holes in the girdle holes are not dead center.

Yeah, i read the link a while back and it's great. I've always admired that web site. But that was the first time i've ever heard of notching the block and i hope to learn more from yall for my Z6 build. Does anyone have any good write ups or other sites for a d series build?
