Floating Valves???
I just swapped in a ZC into my rex and am still woriking out the bugs. When im above 5.5k RPM under load, I start hearing a distinctive CHSH-CHSH-CHSh shound thats about 5/sec. Is this a floating valve or any ideas, also its not pulling as hard on top as it should

Re:Floating Valves???
So nobody here knows how to tell if your floating valves????? Come on guys you know this

Re:Floating Valves???
i dont think u are floating valves unless ur valve train is worn out.i always thought that u floated valves by over reving the engine and the valve springs cant keep up.

Re:Floating Valves???
you gain no power at all and it just stops accellerateing and then itl start widning down. a Z6 will handle a FEW 8500 revs. but it doent like it lol.

Re:Floating Valves???
what ecu are you using? have you adjusted the valve lash?
|
Re:Floating Valves???
Valves wouldn't float that early in the RPM band. Usually past stock redline, unless you have a super aggressive cam with stock valve springs.

Re:Floating Valves???
Thats what I keep thinking but it might be a defective spring. I installed new everything and adjusted and rtorqued everything as it went in so I dont thnk its the normal wear things like valve lash, etc. Ill keep you uys updated, I just wanted to know if anyone knew what floating valves sounded like so I could rule this out

Re:Floating Valves???
if you floated a valve youd know it, cause youd have a nice mess of bent parts
