see i never tried it because i was told that the coolant never stays in the radiator long enough to cool off and its not in the block long enough to transfer the heat from the cylinders.

Well, when my car gets to operating temperature it's always rock solid. It only took a while to heat up a few times, so I am not too worried about it, I was just curious. I am guessing it was just cold weather. The only time my car ever over heated was at the dragstip when my cooling fan fuse blew, it didn't even get very hot either because I caught it in time and turned the heater on full blast.

that makes no sense at all, the thermostat is there to control the flow of coolant from the block to the rad so it will keep the engine at a certain temp. if it is stuck open there is no control and the engine will always overcool, they are designed to fail in the open position because the effects of overcooling are much less serious than the effects of overheating

Does anyone else find irony in the fact that at this statement auto manufacturers are engineering failure?

you are a ------- little **** sucker, i am trying to show you that what you say is completely ------- wrong in a way that doesnt make you feel like the stupid little **** that you are and you go and start taking the ****, if you knew what the ---- a thermostat did then you wouldnt go saying that when the ****** is stuck open that the car would most likely overheat.

you are just taking a wild guess, knowing that it will either overheat or overcool and you guessed wrong, nice one you thick ----, i really dont think BBKA was asking for people to perhaps speculate on why there is a difference in the operation of the cooling system on his car to what is was a couple of months ago because, i think he can come up with that sort of ---- himself, what he wanted was FACTS and what the ususal cause of such problem would, we dont need your kind of ---- on this board so either quit the ------- attitude or ---- off elsewhere

I don't see it as a failure. if you thermosate goes bad all the time and killes your engine why would you buy that kind of car ever again if it is going to cost you a new engine every 5 years.
the way I see it if its a good car and dives great and some people have had their cars for years it will cause other people to buy that car. Even though most of the people that won't ever buy a new car will alway have that same car for a long time untill they wreck it. It's the classic cause and effect. Make something good and more people will buy it. they engineeres it to pay for their kids college.
