Default Engine taking longer than normal to warm up?

Well maybe a month or two ago I noticed my engine took a lot longer than normal to warm up. I usually let it warm up for a minute or two and then just drive like a sissy until it gets to operating temp, usually doesn't take too long, but I noticed it took a lot longer than normal this day. It has done this a few times since then. Just wondering why my car is doing this? Maybe because it's winter and the temperatures are a lot colder than normal? Any ideas would be great.

My guess is its just so damn cold. Could your thermostat somehow be sticking open or not closing all the way not allowing the block to heat up as fast?

I am guessing I just need a new thermostat then? I was actually thinking it was my thermostat, but honestly I wasn't 100% sure exactly what it did, I kinda just had an idea. I went to how stuff works and that explained what it did, but I didn't think about it sticking open until you guys said that and now it makes a lot of sense, thanks. I learn something new everyday. I would say it's just because it's colder out now. My truck takes FOREVER to warm up. My work truck is warm within a few minutes.

if your tstat was stuck open your car would most likely over heat.

I've seen motors with no thermostat never reach operating temperature. This was after weeks and weeks of daily driving.

If it warms up and stays in operating temp then your Tstat is working. My car has been doing the exact same thing. It's winter here, how bout there?

Some people actually take out the t-stat, if its stuck open the temp just fluctuates
