Did my D16 myself, top to bottom, took me a good bit of time cause I was learning the whole way

Paid $70 for my crank to be balanced and polished, notched the block myself

Does that $500 included bearings and gaskets and everything? Thats pretty good if it does

Check references though, a lot of shady ******* in this industry

Buildin short blocks its easy nor hard. if not confident let some skilled hands do the work worth it in the long run for a small cost

im going to build my own engine, including the head. i have the tools etc. i think it will be more fun then anything. from what i gathered, u basically just need to take ur time and make sure ur clearnaces are all good and use the proper lubricants, oils, etc while assembling. but, im not doing the honing/boring/decking of my own block
