EG Spring Rates with Koni Yellows for AutoX
The autocross season is upon us. I've got a 92 hatch with a z6 in it. This is not a DD. I've got a set of Koni Yellows on stock si springs that I want to use this year. I've done a little research on HT and what little I could find on here to come to the conclusion that too high a spring rate for the Konis will kill them prematurely. A decent compromise appears to be about 500f/650r. I will be running Hoosier A3s, si front sway bar, and if my tax return allows it, a decent sized aftermarket rear sway bar. I realize that a lot of picking suspension is driving style and the way you want the car to feel, but I'm not experienced enough to give a ---- about that. I just want a decent starting point. Just thought I'd throw that spring rate out here to get some input on what my selection should be/why it is bad/reviews of someone else who knows more about it than I do.
Readers Digest:
Somewhat novice AutoXer has a POS EG and needs suspension input.
Is 500f/650r a good match for Koni Yellows?

Re: EG Spring Rates with Koni Yellows for AutoX
Talked to Lee at Koni today, basically he agreed that the maximum spring rate that you want to use with an off the shelf Koni yellow is 600 lb/in. He also had some great advice for setting up the car to make it a decent starting point for my autox 'career'. A lot of this stuff I already knew from looking at other peoples setups/doing my own research. A decent starting point to feel out the waters is somewhere between 400-550 on the front and 400-600 on the rear. Also he suggested getting an aftermarket rear sway to help the car turn. I will be taking his advice and placing my order tonight or tomorrow. I plan on gettin the custom spring rates from GC and I haven't made up my mind on a sway bar. Probably will make another post to get some input from people.

Re: EG Spring Rates with Koni Yellows for AutoX
Thanks for the link, but I've already had my Koni Yellows for a year and a half. I'm going to order just the spring from GC directly. It looks like I'm going to be getting a 450f/650r setup with the ST cheap-o Summit sway bar and just reinforce the rear cross member with some steel plate. I might even try to make my own top hat, we will see, I'll just have to take some measurements and I'm going to have to decide on how tall of a spring I want.

Well ----, Ground Control only sells spring that fit their damn coil over kits. I didn't want to go coil over but looks like I don't have much of a choice if I want custom spring rates. I was just hoping I could get a stock sized (maybe a couple of inches shorter) spring and throw it on my Konis and roll. But no. Time to start searching again.
Anyone know where I can get full sized springs with custom rates?
