Default Dyno run question??

I plan on taking my car to the dyno soon and have a few q's. First what gear should I run in or do they suggest one? I have read that the best gear for hondas (EG) is 4th. Now my concern is taking it to redline in 4th gear. My tires are NOT rated for those speeds. Even though yes, I have taken it far beyond the rated max speed of 117mph a few times, would I lose or gain any numbers or important data running in say 3rd gear? They are pos Bridgestone Potenzas 205/50 15's. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

do your pull in 4th gear, you want the closest 1:1 ratio, don't worry about the tires, 120 mph on a dyno is different than 120 mph on the street

can't a dyno compensate for the gearing difference in calculations?

do two runs, 1 3rd, 1 4th and compare.

if u arent pushing some decent power a 4th gear pull might take up some time

This is exactly how I went about it as well. Do both 3rd and 4th gear pulls to see the differences. I beleive on My LS the 4th gear pulls were better. Seems to take forever to build the RPM'd up to redline though on a dyno. lol, maybe it's just nerves.

was it a noticable difference or just a few ponies?

It was a few ponies, and my air fuel ratio was different as well. I know for a few horses you might not be worried, but my whole plan of being on the dyno was to get as much out of the car as I could, thats why I opted to stick with the 4th gear pulls. Haha, it was my first time on the dyno. I kept trying to release the ebrake for some reason, I was just so used to driving on the streets it was like second nature to want to release the ebrake, then drive BoostnLS was there for that ----. lol
