dx vs si tranny

Re:dx vs si tranny
I've tried both a dx and si tranny, and i'd have to say the si trans is much more fun for toolin around town. You stay in your "power band" much more on the si than the dx, but right now i have the dx in and it is kinda nice to cruise down the highway doing 90 and pull about 3500 rpm in fifth gear. The si trans used to scream at 90 mph :P Not to mention i have to shift first gear fast as it is on the dx trans...the Si trans used to be too quick, and i'd end up over-revvin stuff

sure the si tranny would be a lot quicker racing and ----, but the dx is more comfortable on the highway(and i travel a lot)

Re:dx vs si tranny
Thanks for the input fellas. I will be doing a good bit of highway driving and I figured the dx would be better for the highway, but I didn't want to be disappointed when I run the 1/4. I think that with me boosting I probably wouldn't mind the dx trans. I was happy with the si trans and boost but since I do alot of highway driving I may just like the dx better. Anybody else have 1/4 time difference? I also have one of those phantom grip lsd things and I'm trying to decide what trans to put it in.

Re:dx vs si tranny
if you plan on putting the phantom grip lsd differntail into a tranny, it is going to have to be the SI tranny. ...
Why? becuase the dx has a 35mm bearing and the si has a 40mm bearing.
I'd be willing to bet that the diff is a 40mm bearing

i went from a dx tranny in my 95 coupe to a Si tranny, gearing is night and day better, 2nd and 3rd are wayyyy better, highway mileage is the same but only if i actually do the speed limit, no more 80-90mph 40mpg now its 60-75 40mpg and thats with a taller tire

Dr. Boost, thanks for the linking.
Also, DMoore's site has misinfo on the gearing, I sent Dave the proper info, he never fixed it.
