DX vs EX tranny.
Im picking up a 95 dx and I already have plans of picking up a d16z6. should I also look for the tranny or would the dx be fine. I know the gears are shorter on the ex. Anyone wappy with the ex engine dx tranny setup?
I do have my flamesuit on so go ---- yourself in advance if your ready to torch me! :y |
Re: DX vs EX tranny.
If it doesn't grind or anything go get it. Longer gears=more spoolage before you have to shift. Hell find a cx/vx tranny and find a big fat snail.

Re: DX vs EX tranny.
the rumor of longer gears=faster is about has wrong has people caring about anne nicole smiths death. A typical turbo d is gonna make 200 whp and in the 165-190 tq range
Im sorry thats all motor b20/vtec range. Would you recommend a ls trans vs an itr tarns for the b20 of course not. Longer gearing is only needed for cars making 450+ whp and even then people vary depending on slick size. |
Re: DX vs EX tranny.
yeah i second the rumor of longer gears being better with boost. ive had both EG ex and dx trans, EX all the way! but definately dont spend 350 for one. just rock the dx if thats the case.

Re: DX vs EX tranny.
I think the 350 is a little much but that is kinda what they sell for these days unless you find a deal

Re: DX vs EX tranny.
I say go with whatever works. Just get the DX and consider it part of your 450whp build if somebody asks why your using that instead of a ex/si tranny. :6

Re: DX vs EX tranny.
i had a dx tranny on my last boosted car then swapped it out for an ex tranny. it was like night and day, doesn't matter what everybody says, shorter gears is always better for faster ecceleration.

Re: DX vs EX tranny.
only time where a DX is acceptable IMO is with cable trannys. the SI and DX have the same gearing, but the final drive on the SI is just a touch shorter. and its not even that much different. i ran both and liked each.
