My distributor on my 93 D15 is leaking oil into the cap, I just picked up a used dist. case from a friend with a good seal in it so I'm going to pull my internals and put them in this case. Has anyone here ever done this and can you give me any tips?

why not just swap the rubber seal

 

re-use the coil and ignitor but get a new cap and rotor. unless you KNOW they are pretty new on the leaky dist.

 

Thanks but I think I will be able to re-use the cap and rotor as the car is still running good.

 

If you want to fix your distributor...

Remove the coil and ignitor.

You can take the bottom cog off, by removing the snap ring, then pushing out the pin. Make sure you keep track of the shims between the body and the drive cog. The cog is offset so check it's relation to the indexing flat on the center shaft.

You'll need a security torx to take out the top plate screws, and be gentle, but they'll prolly snap anyway. Once you get the plate screws out, you can rotate the shaft as you lift the entire assy out of the distrib body.

Once all that is out, you can get at the seal. Also check the upper bearing and the lower bushing.

We can send you a rebuild kit which includes the bearing, seal, and O-ring. Normally the bottom bushing does not go bad, but we have those too.
