is the only differnce between all the different odb dissy(obd 0, obd 1, obd 2) just the plugs and how they mount? the wires are the same, so if i just change the plugs, would it work ok? im putting a obd2 dissy on a d16z6, but im running it non obd. i just wanted to check before i go cutting plugs off.

In short, No.
OBD0 and OBD1 have different CYP sensor tooth counts.
Im not aware of OBD1-2 differences.
Match your ECU to the distributor (OBD-wise)

If you put a OBBD1 ECU togther with an OBD1 distributor on a Non-OBD harness(for example), then you can just splice the wires to make the connectors works.
