D16Z6 swap. Tranny and axles questions.
Hey.
So I was given a '89 civic wagon, that's not running. It's 2wd and baby blue. I'm planning on stripping it, cleaning up the body, and painting it. Drop a new engine and tranny, and swapping my 14b turbo kit from my rt4wd wagon. Put the RT back to stockish daily driver.
Anyway, there is a D16Z6 complete swap FS locally for $500. Engine, tranny, axles, mounts, shiftlinkage. Everything except the harness and ECU.
The easiest thing would be to get a 88-91 Si tranny, correct? Use the stock DX engine and tranny mounts. Can I use the Z6 axles with the Si tranny?
Or should I try a hydro clutch conversion? Fab in the pedals from a 92-95. Modify the rear crossmember, move the tranny mount. Am I forgeting anything? More work, but newer tranny. I have never driven a civic with a hydro clutch, but I would think they would feel smoother, and not need adjustment.
I will be getting a new clutch too. Not sure which one. I will also get a LSD while I'm at it. Probably the OBX one.
I think I have the harness sorted out. Use the DX harness, add wires for vtec and 4 injectors, resistor box, with my dsm 450's and chipped Si ecu. Turboedit for vtec control.
Any suggestions?
Oh, and I also got some new goodies.
