Re: D16y8 Head onto a D16z6 block. What does it take to make it work??
OBD1 and OBD2 dizzy's are the same except for the plugs. OBD1 has two plugs and OBD2 incorporated the two plugs into one. I just made an adapter to go from OBD1 dizzy to OBD2 harness in my 98.
The sensor in front of the engine is a hall effect sensor (crankshaft fluctuation sensor) that is used for checking misfires and such. |

Which brings me to my question...why not just go to napa, order the 2 valves you needed for around $18 a piece (last i checked anyway), disassemble the head, remove the 2 spring sets, re-seat the new valves, and put it back together? Personally i think $36 and an hour or two of your time would have been much more worthwhile in the long run. Doesn't anyone do their own engine work anymore (and no...swapping heads does NOT count in my book)? ::) I mean c'mon...even a crappy haynes manual shows you how to do that :P
