Default d16y1 any no about it?

I Am doing a head coversion on my d15z1 so it will be more boost friendly and less restrictions .a wrecking yard was going to sell me a d16z6 complete head and ecu for $200 ,But the bastard's sold it and now my head's allready off .They still have a Y1 head But i dont no anything about the d16y1,as in strength ,piston type,etc Did a few search and came up with no decent info except its a sohc vtec like the z6 .Also my comp ratio has got me confused i dont no what it would be with either head ,I would like it to be in the 8.?.1 area.

i did some research for you. the d16y1 looks like its the same as a d16y8 but from europe. Everytime I see something about this engine its like this "93-95 civic VTi 1.6l d16y1"

Vti is a term used in europe and japan, not here in Canada or the US.

the benifits depend on what your engine is now.. if the z1 is sohc vtec dont bother. the y1 wont be any lower for C/R. Just save the money and use it on good fuel mngmt

Even if the y1 use's the same piston's as my vx i dont really care,Cause one of the main things is vtec-e and its 5-wire o2 which is stuffed and id rather pay $200 for a y1 complete Top end which will allow a common $30 02 sensor and have a better vtec setup which should make more power,And i dont no any1 who makes vx cams ,Where as y1,z6 etc is widely avalable.And i cant stand the 5800 redline of the vx ecu.What vtec rev's to 5800??Only the fully gay d15z1.
I would have thrown the motor in the tip but i wana make the fastest 1.5 civic in melbourne.And the vx has same length rods as a d16 so early teg rods will fit in without a drama.If i can brake a high 12 ,low 13 then i will have the fastest 1.5 civic as the current title is 14.5 .

Thanks anyway youve been a real help on my junkyard build up.Hopefully ill get to my goal of 280hp at the wheels on a d15.Most of my knowledge is based on us spec honda's as honda's arnt popular here in the performance seen .Most are rice's with big wheels and big bodykits,and basic induction mods.Thats why it hard when aussie engines are different,With no knowlegde of strength or internals.ppl still think that i have a custom manifold as no has thought of using a vx manifold and adapter plate But that will have to go or be ported to flow 12-18psi.Im righting a web page which goes though my build up so hopefully i can help other ppl with homemadeturbo installs

i believe that is the hx model d16. the vtec on that is very weak. the ports on the head are way too small. you can match them to another manifold but i wouldnt waste the time. but one thing that you can do to it is take all the rockers and cam out. toss in the rocker assymbly from a z6 with the cam. makes a big diff in vtec switch over. everything should bolt right in with no probs. and while your at it, toss an accord f22 tb on the manifold and port match it. easy cheap way of a few horses. if you need more info...let me know

if u can supply z6 cams rockers,to australia then maybe i can take that approach.D16Z6 was never bought out buy honda australia.Im thinking of going y8 as i can get 1 but im unsure of ecu,as im only using a vafc until i can pick up my standalone.

any newer than 96 is practically impossible to get.
