Default D16A8/9

as u all know im doing this ------- engine list ---- for jeff!

and i came across this motor
d16a8/9 (came in tegs 88-89)
Displacement (cc): 1595
Power (bhp@rpm): 137@6800
Torque (ft/lbs@rpm): 108@5700
Compression Ratio: 9.5:1
Bore (mm): 75
Stroke (mm): 90
Cam Design: dohc
VTEC?: no
OBD: 0
Year(s) Produced: 1988-1989
In the following car(s): Acura Integra

---------------------------------------------

ok now what i dont get it this. a d16a1 has the exact same bore and same displacement yet it only makes 113hp?

what the hell is going on here. is this a d series that is worth investigating?

shortyz..

All the ZC's and most 1.6's D-series have the exact same size bore and stroke..

The difference in HP is made up in.. Camshafts/Intake manifold design/ and ECU.

Keep looking, at specs, I have seen d16a8/a9's rated at like 128hp or so.. (edm engines)

I have a D16A8 in my EDM 1st gen 87' CRX it's with the brown cover.
Jeff is right it is rated at 128 or so hp.
As I have heard the D16A9 (black cover) has a slightly different intake manifold and other cams and the ECU is totally different.
One good advice .... don't get the EDM 87' ecu's They suck.
It has a automatic choke that suck *** big time.
If you have problems with coolent leaking ro waterpump broke that choke is gonna choke your wallet to dead with a mpg that even my father's Camaro laughs at.And that monkey *** vacume advance... ...If I change to electronic advance do I need to change to another ECU?

If you change to electronic advance you will definitely have to do minor wiring and find another ecu. Get an ecu from an 88-89 integra, the 86-87 brown tops have vacuum advance.
