Default D16A6 Build Up. seals? gaskets? pistons? rods?...

Ok im building my d16a6 to handle 12 psi ish...

I will have ignition and fuel managment but this part im wondering about is the engine build.

Head Gasket? I want a copper one but from where?

Seals? Can I just use the tube ---- that you apply and let dry?

Is there a rebuild kit available that is cheap?

Is the problem with hihg boost the fact that the d series pistons cant handle the Psi or is it the compression ratio. Im just wondering if I had like 8.2:1 CR with strong rods if id have a problem?

Rods: b18 or b16? are they different? I have a set of b16 rods and I understand they need some machining to fit. Thats cool but is it worth it?

THX guys

Oh ya. end do you think a block guard is safe? I heard it drops off your cooling. Mauybe that block pinning that endyne does?

First off, how much do you want to spend? and do you want to do it right? or just do a rebuild to stock trim?

D-series rods are weak, they break easily
D-series pistons are cast, and if any type of detonation, they will break.

The compression ratio isnt really anything to be worried about with a D-series, they are very user friendly, dont go into the 8's.

Lots of money can be put into a rebuild.. all new bearings/seals/gaskets/belts from the factory is atleast 300 bucks

Machine work, depending on what you get done, (rebore the cylinder) get new pistons and rods, could be 100-300 worth of work, you could get your bottom end balanced, you could polish your crank, its endless.. so many things.

Block Guards blow ***, if you DO use one, get it welded in place, then redeck your block and then rebore your cylinders so you wont get any distortion.

Copper head gaskets require the block or head (or both) to get machined for a O-ring, this can cost about 350-500 bucks. btw, SCE makes head gaskets for D-series.

B18 and B16 rods do not just bolt in, machine work is neccasary. Which is bigger, the B18 rod, but not by much.

THX for the info.

I can do most of simple honeing resurfacing of head and block surface at my school.

Journals on my crank was 40 bucks to get done. and flywheel 20 bucks.

OK. So lets say I get some b18 rods... Caan a machine shop understand what I want to do if I bring them my crank and rod?

Pistons... im really clueless here. Im not sure If I should keep the stock pistons which are like mint or if I should get the supra pistons or aftermarket... Providing adequate fuell and boost retard timing with like 10psi is it nessecary?

Getting the bottom balenced is a must. I got a quote of 100 cdn... for the whole rotating assembly(is this a good price)...

I got a hook up on bearings, timing belt, rings for like 200 cdn...

Any other rods that are stronger that could posibly drop in here?

THX guys

B-series rods will work, just bring a stock D series rod and a B-series rod, and your new piston, and explain to him what you want done..

I prefer aftermarket forged pistons, I honestly think that supra deal is a bit wack, I wouldnt want my compression that low at all, and who knows how well it works?

1000+ posts good job

newayz how much would I be looking at in aftermarket pistons? Lik moeny is tight now so if I dont need them with good fueling at 12psi I dont want them?

hmm i was thinking much more.

Is it worth it?

any brand names or retailers I just dont know if I shoul take 700 and get pistons or do ignition and fuelling right away then pistons maybe down the road....

JE/SRP
Endyn/Wiesco (rollerwave)
Arias

I am sure their are others...

You can try 12psi on stock cast pistons, but if you break them, dont be upset. because you were warned.

haah but they are cheap... you think the rods would hold tho? I mmight just have to get some spares and if it blows then i can swap out the spares in a afternoon and turn the boost down a lil....

is 12 psi even nesseary to achieve 200 HP on the d16a6 with stock compression ratio
THX man i aprreciate you doin this. I would send you a donation but i got no pay pal
