D16A1 head on a ZC DOHC block???
wouldn't the only difference be the valve cover bolts and valve cover? everything should still be the same right? im also thinking i can just swap over the cams and cam gears.
only reason i want to do this is cause i can find a pretty decent Head at the junk so i figure why not and have it rebuilt.

Re: D16A1 head on a ZC block???
If i remember right to swap the whole head only one of the oil passages have to be hogged out a tiny bit. And no you cant swap cams the d16a1 cams are degreed differently than the zc cams and the cam timing would be way off. its been a long time since ive reasearched that so someone else might be able to be more specific.

i have more info along with lots of pics from a site that i found a few years ago on this subject i will look when i get home tonight and try and find that site again. its something to do with the cam towers, they are different from the zc to the d16a1 and therefore throws the cam timing off when you put d16a1 cams in a zc head. i think the guy had to adjust his cam gears 8 degrees to get them back to zero. and i think you are right about the oil passages i was prolly thinkin bout the sohc. the head gskets are the same for the d16a1 and the zc. sorry :P
i was reasearching this cause i have a gude head for a d16a1 and i wanted to put the cams in my zc but i found that it wouldnt work. i should just put the whole head on my zc but the comp is going to be to high for my taste when i boost it.
