You've read way to much crap online, why would you want to shorten the rod, the rod isn't going to break. I've never heard of an eagle d series rod breaking from long-term fatique. K.I.S.S. is something you really need to think more about. Your going to run into a ton more issues trying to do it the way you want for no real world benefit. And if your dead set on running a shorter rod, then get a set of custom pistons made with the pin moved. I don't see the point of having a custom set of rods made to make up for a set of $100 pistons.

I was talking stock rods.
I've pulled Eagles out of dropped valve wreckage where a hole was beat in the top of the piston the size of a quarter. Perfect, undamaged, verified by a machinist who checked them to be true. "They are a copy of the best rod in the world, Carillo," and they are a very good copy at that.
