D series engine builders come in* Help*
So i'm wanting to do my vitara build with my d16a6 block with custom eagle rods to d15 length. But in doing this i will lower the compression significantly. So to resolve this issue and take the compression to where i would like i was thinking about milling the block to 205mm. D16a6 block stock is 212mm and the d15b2 block is 207mm. Does anyone see a problem with milling 7mm of the top of the d16a6 block which will make it 2mm shorter than the d15b2 block?
The point would be to keep a d15 length rod for strength over a d16 rod (both eagle h beams) and since using a shorter rod and vitara pistons you will have a way low compression so if you mill the block down on the d16 7mm it will bring the compression up to 9.33:1 thats why. If you think about it it will take the d16 block down to 205mm which is only 2mm shorter than the d15 block. And i know buy milling the block i will run into issues the the head bolts but i plan on running arp studs instead

PM FJT (FJ Distributors - one of HMT sponsors) and ask him about the custom connecting rods he has. These rods will position the pistons closer to the block height which will result in a higher compression ratio over the other rods. This will prevent you from milling the head.

Everything you are talking about doing is *** backwards.
Sure go for it if you want even more cylinder side loading.
Why the ---- would you even consider this when there is a readily available solution for this situation?
:1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1 :1
AS mentioned before, FJT has a set of custom length I beam rods that will sit the Vitaras about 0.003" below the deck on a D16 block.
DOn't ruin an A6 block. If you insist on being a retard then sell me the block for a small sum of money so that I can put it to use without ruining it.

Re: D series engine builders come in* Help*
why wouldnt you just run standard A6 rods? then you would just have to mill the block only a mm or so? :1
your also going to run into issues with getting a timing belt that works, cam timing....... sorry but your idea is just fucked...

Don't try to re-engineer the wheel here chief. No one is having issues with eagle d16 rods and if the compression is an issue get the longer FJT rods. You are talking about longevity in a $1000 motor. If you really care about it lasting then don't run vitara's either because the p2w clearance is huge and that hurts longevity as well.

Maybe with a worn out std bore block.
