CRX rear disk swap last weekend

Last weekend I did a rear disk swap on my 90 HF (90 Teg brakes) and now my brake pedal goes through the floor before my car brakes >:(
It was kind of expected but ----! I'm going to swap out the master cylinder as soon as I can get one, its nearly impossible to find one at a junkyard! anyways I'm hoping this will cure my problem, if not, sadly I will have to go back to drums ::shrugs::

I took pictures and will have it document as soon as I can get my pics hosted. Does anybody know (from experiance) if a larger master cylinder is the cure.

Heres the link to my Wanted thread if you got one for sale.

i hear the 90 crx si MC isnt a MUST. You must have air in the lines.. bleed again and again.

I'm sure the larger master Cyl. (13/16 to 15/16) will make a slight difference but not to the floor difference. Check the brake lines for leaks as well.

I did bleed the brakes, is this common for having air in your brake line?

bleed em some more.. what else did u change?

when you get that writeup done it gets a big fat sticky. ;)

Everything except the disk's, I couldn't get those screws that hold them in place loose, I was working without air tools and was affraid to strip them.

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

u need an impact driver for those little f'n screws. Its like 10$ from autozone. its like a chisle with a rotating bit on the end. when you hammer it down it compresses and turns whichever way it's set to. no stripping with that thing.

Did you put on a new prop valve?

priced a NEW MC ?

Let them gravity bleed for a while. If that does not work , pinch off the brake lines to one of the caliper one at a time , at the time its pinched try the pedal . If that does not work them do the back with both pinched lines and see if it goes up, if it does you have a problem with youre swap. However if it does not pinch both front and back and still no pedal time for another m.c. Also check the condition of the hoses.

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

I guess it wouln't hurt to bleed them one more time, and no I didn't change the prop valve. I'll just leave the disk's alone since they're still in really good condition, no need to change them out yet.

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

might be the prop valve. ;) Drums use way less fluid.

Your probably right, I will hit the junkyard after work and hopefully pick one up. Then I'll give it a good bleeding and post the results tomarrow.

have you priced a 90-91 si MC new yet? I dont think they are expensive at all, like 80 maybe.

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

Well I picked up an Teg Pop Valve yesterday, but I didn't have enough time to install it or bleed the system. It got late since I had to run to two diferent junkyards to find it. It doesn't look any diferent than the one I all ready have, but I did noticed that the Teg valve was stamped 4040, and the HF was stamped 1875, maybe that explains the diference. We'll see what happens soon enough.

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

it's different. 4040 is the correct one.

I dont know if I'm the only one who experiances a delay after uploading an image to that folder. After I upload something, it doesn't show up after a while, sometime I dont even know if it even worked ???

Re:CRX rear disk swap last weekend

really? it doesn't do that for me. just be sure to lable all of your files with a certain prefix so that they're easy to find (there's no organization in there :P). i.e., brakeswap1, brakeswap2, et., etc.........
