crappy big tranny to Z6 tranny conversion?

Hey,
I have the D15z1 motor and VX tranny setup and I know it sucks, and I have it turboed and it's the worst tranny to have due to the fact I can do about 70mph in second gear. I'm thinking of putting the SI/Ex tranny on my 1.5L Sohc Vtec, it is the VX, what kinda of a difference do you think this would make, and also, do the axles/halfshafts/etc. differ from the VX tranny to the EX/SI tranny? I need to solve the problem of my car never really seeing the power get put down to the wheels!
Thanks,
Patrick

you should be able to use the current axles with the ex/si tranny. I would suggest the 96+ ex tranny as they have steel shift forks where as the others are all alum. (steel is stronger ;) )

so as long as it's a D series motor tranny it will bolt up? No matter what year or generation? You think this would be a good idea to do too?
Thanks,
Patrick

Not always, But in your case yes you can put the 92-95 EX/SI tranny in, or the Y8 (ex) Tranny from the 96-00.

D16a1's (88-89 integras have different bell housing configs)
D17's maybe different too, I dunno.

But most D15's/d16's are the same

You will notice a big difference between the two.

The vx/cx/hf/std 4 spd trans are about the worst thing you can do for performance. Good investment for what you will get in return. Dont forget a clutch while the trans is out.
