crank question
sup guys well my crank in the original motor spun a rod bearing... well i found a guy to sell me his crank on honda-tech.. well i recieved it today and on a rod part of it there seems to be a really small scratch (fingernail barely catches it) and at the end of that crease there is a small nick ( the size of pencil dot) should i be worried? my other crank is all fugged up from the rod bearing being spun.. im gonna run ACL bearings and make sure all the clearences are in spec.. just wanted to be sure this little nick would be ok... he said it came out of a running motor
thanks

Re: crank question
i think it might be ok... its almost like the top coating of the journal chipped off... its like a little dimple...if i run my finger over it there isnt any sharp edges or anything... but if i run along w/ my fingernail it kinda catches...

regardless of being turbo a buggered crank is no good...take it to a machine shop to get checked out

Re: crank question
i would but machine shops around here would say yes it needs it even if it doesnt.... and then i just bought my STD. sized ACL bearings and would have to buy oversized bearings... i mean has anyone else assembled a motor w/ a nick or anything wrong w/ the motor? the motor isnt going to be together long... im gonna tear it apart this winter again to put in forged rods/pistons.. just woundering if anyone has had any luck w/ something like this
thanks
