judging by the way the piston is sitting in there i would think there was something else that caused that cylinder to crack and not just high hp.

Yah, that sucker was trying to liberate itself from the block.

Ok fine, i cheated and used the rod to split it. If it counts i was raping an M3 with no lube as that happened, excess boost was a factor tho >:D

So is it safe to say with a good tune that a block gaurd or posting is not needed?

Two of those can damage your engine while doing nothing beneficial, and the the third does nothing at all. I say you go for all three.

i might just put this to the test to see how lond they hold on 18psi when i get some spare funds. already have a few spare blocks and trading some scat rods so all i need is some pistons and put it together.

I'm gonna try and max my turbo that I'm getting from blaast out this spring. I'll either crack the sleeves, of max out my turbo. I'm prayin I max out my turbo. If not I'll get another block and go the vitara route and hopefully salvage my well built d head. Be much cheaper and I know what they've made on stock sleeves. Wish I had the money for the sleeves in the f/s section though.......

wonder how much your gonna max that out before anything on the block breaks lol

I'm not sure I agree. I got a turbo from Blaast and it has been awesome. I have also sent a few people his way and they don't have any complaints either. I'm sure he has had some screwups but I have only read about one of them and Blaast was trying to do everything he could to fix it but the guy was being a douche and wouldn't listen. There may be more problems and I'm not trying to be a nutswinger but I think this is a situation of a couple issues ruined his reputation. I will continue to send him my turbos till he screws me

I am impressed on the couple of cracked sleeves in the D's, we certainly tried to join that club.

Last summer we went through 3 motors in the Black Hornet, every one ended up with a rod through the block, couldn't touch the sleeves. I also know that tmathis (trevor72) went smashed all of his ring lands to bits, but had no sleeve issues as well.

However the PG crew is 3 for 4 with the B's and sleeves 90dx Smashed 2 LS's and Urban Indian Smashed his GSR sleeves, but his LS was just a big D and ---- the rod through the block.

last turbo d I blew broke all four ring lands. actually it broke both sets. and the block was fine. hell it ran pretty good even like that but the fumes were killer at red lights. long live the mighty a6's

BLAAST has done well by me and mine. There's been more than one screw up, only one of them 100% on his end, and he's made good in every last situation. I think he gets into problems trying to take care of the bottom end market where $5 dictates whether or not you get the sale, as he gets sent 25 year old turbos that have already been built once or twice before and are honestly worn the ---- out and should be thrown away. If you have a decent condition turbo that's leaking a little, etc, where it's reasonable to expect a rebuild to work well he'll hook it up. If you have a GT35 that's let go - you have good comp/turbine housings and just need the CHRA - he will hook it the ---- up.
