Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
digital or dial guage?
if its digital it will read - instead of a positive #. if its a dial it wont read at all. just think of the path of the current, alternator doesnt draw in electricity does it? :P |
Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
its a cheapy dail, it was reading fine untill i pulled it out yesterday (car is back to stock) i just wanted to make sure :)
BTW remember my battery wasent holding charge, well i purchased a NEW red top altima, threw it in and it started up every time but, suddenly my "new" shitty alternator went out AGIAN! ::) replaced it with a bigger junkyard mitsubishi alternator ??? long story short, the battery was a defect i guess but fortunately the car runs cherry once agian 8) appreciate the help man :) |
Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
wait, why wouldent the dail read anything if it was hooked up backwords? just curious

Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
negative flow cant be read on a postive guage
|
Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
i think they are supposed to read slightly negative if everything is working correctly

Re: Connecting ammter/volt gauge (PIC)
ammeters read + and - flow, but are unsafe as most don't use 10-12 gauge wire.
Use a voltmeter instead, less chance of car fire. FYI with a ammeter, ALL current goes thru the gauge, think about the losses involved. |
