heres an update on the situation and some new questions.

First of all, I took the old axle out and replaced it with one from autozone.

They new one is snapped in place and all is better now.

But I have another problem and another thing that is worrying me.

First,
The end of the old axle looks like it ground off into little flakes or something in the transmission. This is what the end looks like

I drained the old (practically brand new) fluid, and put in some new stuff. I didn't notice any flakes when draining the old fluid. Should I be worried about this? is it enough to cause any damage?

My second question and new problem is this. Now that the axle is fixed I think that maybe the throw out bearing is bad, for totally unrelated reasons.

First reason, now when I start the car, it makes a very very quiet whinning noise when the clutch pedal is all the way out, but if I even move the pedal 1/2 inch down the noise goes away.

Second reason, It slightly grinds going into almost all gears, which would indicate either a throw out bearing, or a totally fuxored tranny.

Third reason, I can feel a slight binding feeling when I push in the clutch pedal occasionally.

What do you guys think?

Should I be worried about the metal flakes?

Is it ok to drive around with a somewhat bad throw out bearing?

the end of the axle got grind off. drain teh fluid and refill it whihc u did.

as of the whinning noise.mine use to do it as well :P
i just don`t give a ----, keep on driving it until it somehow went away :P

as of the grinding. u sure the tranny is good?....
a bad TO bearing is no gonenr coz it to grind (well not if it is complete seperated.
the first thing you should check when a tranny grind is motor mounts, specially the rear mount.

thanks again for your help donald.

I'm assuming that the tranny is a good tranny, but obviously I have no way to know.

I'm thinking its something with the throw out bearing or pressure plate mainly because the clutch pedal is making that weird clicking. It's almost like it goes way stiff until a certain point, and then clicks and becomes soft. What could cause this?

ok, I'm I've noticed a new symptom, when I put it in gear, and as I let out the clutch, it makes a loud whurrring sound with some grinding type sounds also.

I would just go a head and replace the clutch and throw out bearing, but I want to be sure that my tranny is alright also and that there aren't any bearings going bad. Is there any way to tell? Keep in mind that it did drive fine for about 2 blocks before any of this happened. It was shifting smooth and not making any noises in gear

I would say defintely your TOB and Clutch. I had a similar poblem a while back. It caused my tranny to go bad so fix it asap. OR at least take that tranny off and inspect everything before you go buyin stuff. Take teh tranny case of and if somethign falls out, get a new tranny
