clutch engaging problems

i swaped a ls engine in my 95 civic coupe after i took my b16 and turbo stuff out to get ready to sell it. it has the y80 tranny that came with my b16 and a used act clutch and pressure plate also. i had it running for a few days everything was perfect and i was going to sell it after i got a few things sorted with the car. well as i was on my street coming home the clutch started acting up and wouldnt let me shift gears at all. well it seemed pretty bad so i took the tranny off and everything clutch and pressure plate seemed fine so i ended up just putting everything back together, thinking maybe the bearing fell off the fork or something crazy. well its still acting up but it sometimes seems fine, it will shift into gear when im sitting still. then other times it wont shift into gear, and seem to clatter some. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. almost seems like its not engaging the clutch enough. should i buy a new slave cylinder? any ideas? thanks

Re: clutch engaging problems

springs in the clutch disc, typical B issue.

springs just crappy? ya i guess i was just kinda hoping i didnt have to replace the clutch. besides the springs looking ok by the eye, is that most likely the problem?

Re: clutch engaging problems

did you look at the metal around the springs or see how loose they were?

I'm not saying that is the issue, I've only drove a B motor setup twice.

But these same symtoms keep coming up.......another Honda common failure point.

Ignitor
Main Relay
B clutches

see where I'm going.......another vote for SOHC D power!

lol ya, my other clutches seemed to work fine, this is a stupid act stage one or some crap that i only paid like 50$ for with the pressure plate because it was slightly used, well i bought that and a b16 head awhile ago for 250 the head was bare with parts. i ended up selling the head for 250 to get my money back so basically i didnt pay anything for this. i should of sold it to some sap like i was planning on lol. well ya ill be taking the tranny off again to get a better look, i mean what else could it be. sounds like most likely the clutch is acting up i just didnt want to pay for a new one.

Typical for any sprung disk. Highly depends on the manufacturer.
