clutch cover torque specs
A LITTLE BACKGROUND:
alright. after new piston/ring installation i spun a rod bearing 15 mins after i started it up again. so i dropped the engine, took off the tranny, clutch, flyswheel, oil pump, pullies etc to get to the crankshaft. removed all the main journal caps and rod caps. removed the crank. took it to waterhouse motorsports in tacoma. they did an excellent job of regrinding it .010" over (.25mm). Next i bought .010" over ACL duraglide 780's to go with it. installed the crank and flywheel. QUESTION: Tonight, i just put in the stage 2 clutch. but have one question. On most honda's or toyotas. or whatever make . What is the ballpark of torque specs for the clutch cover? I did 20 ft lbs, but wanna know if u guys have even one or 2 number on your cars to throw at me to give me a good idea of about where i should tighten. I have a chiltons manual, but it doesnt go into detail about the clutch. Just the engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Re: clutch cover torque specs
i just hand tighten it. afaik it only needs like 13 ft.lbs

Re: clutch cover torque specs
try searching for your actual specs, or get a chiltons manual. on hondas i think it is 19 lbs
edit--just noticed your manual didnt have it |
Re: clutch cover torque specs
are you kidding me? tighten it with a ratchet and call it good. not everything on a car has to be torqued to spec.

Re: clutch cover torque specs
I don't but the bolts back in the clutch cover, makes tranny swaps a little quicker :)

Re: clutch cover torque specs
I don't even torque those........
Flywheel get hit with 1/2" impact on "2" at 120 psi (70 ft/lbs) PP bolt get it from 3/8" air ratchet (25 ft/lbs) Only bolts I torque are rod/main/head bolts. |
