Default car dies unexpectedly...

i have no idea why sometimes my car just cuts off, for example 2 nights ago i went to the luandrymat finished washing my clothes a hour or so later, went to the car start it up then suddenly it just dies on me. i checked my spark plug wires went back to turn on the car then it worked. last night i was about to get something to eat at Jack in the Box, turn on my car it worked then turn on my lights then it dies...i tried to see what was wrong and keep trying to start it back up for like 2 hours then i finally forget, went to sleep, next morning woke up started my car just to see if it worked and it worked went back to bed and i woke up was ready to go somewhere so i wanted to warm up the car, everything seems normal and just about to go back inside the house BOOM the car dies...also just tonight when i got off work just driving back home then the car dies on me while driving, i tried to jump start it didn't work but i did it again than it finally work. btw i have a b16a1 that has been converted to obd1, new distributor basically everything that is needed for the conversion. but the thing is it just started doing last week when it was still obd0....

so.. when its sitting awhile it starts fine? but if sitting for 1hr wont start?

sounds like a main relay to me...

old cars (88-91) have aging problems. 1. being main relay 2. ign switch 3. rack end bushing.

check 1 and 2 maybe $80 from dealer for those.

try a different battery. I had this problem (only mine wouldn't run), everything was normal, 12.6 volts on the battery but not all dash lights were comming on, relays were clicking, and it wouldn't start. Changed the battery, and it was fine. Cold weather seems to mess with them.

okay...i just bought a new relay a couple days ago, seems to start up fine, but sometimes while i'm driving the car jerks a few times and feels like it's about to cut off and sometimes it do cuts off while still driving..and today when i got off work it took me at least a good 15 minutes just to get the car started...i'm not sure if it's b/c of the relay and the ground seems to be good. this is really starting to get on my last nerves PLEASE HELP!!

check the grounds, i had the same issue with the fuel pump ground that bolts to the transmission, it ran fine but occasionally it would buck real bad like it was going to die, it was because that wire was loose and the fuel pump was cutting off.
