Default Car Dies After Reaching Normal Temp.

There is something weird going on with my car all of a sudden . . . .

I took out my z6 motor, and swapped the block out for a y8 block that my friend had with lower mileage. He took the block apart, cleaned the pistons, checked the crank journals, checked the bearings, cylinder walls, honed the cylinders, and slapped everything back together and sent it to me.

We just finished the install the other day and are now having some issues. It has been about a month since my car has been started up.

Setup:

D16z6 Head (from old motor)
D16y8 block

my old motor ran excellent even after being boosted at 10-12psi it still checked out fine as can be, but after starting the car lastnight it idled really weird. We didn't think anything much of it until the car died out.

As soon as the car hits normal operating temperature it just automatically dies out like the ECU is telling it to shut off for some strange reason. It was throwing a CEL # 14 for a little while which is the IACV, but I disconnected thatm cleaned it, reset the ecu and un plugged all the sensors, and fired up the car and the CEL went away, but the car still dies out after it warms up.

What could be the cause of this problem? I got 2 weeks to get my car working again, so someone please help me! If you need more info just ask away . . . . any info that can help is greatly apprecaited;

Possible Causes:

1) Your IACV is improperly hooked up and/or f*cked up
2) Turn your idle screw counterclockwise to increase ur idle
3) Your cam timing is off
4) You fucked up...

This is a classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"... Y would you mess with something that "worked perfect"... I'll never figure people like this out

well it was actually doing a friend a good deed. I work from home so I didn't ned a car at the time, but my friends car was stolen and they fucked up his motor, so I sold him my motor, and installed this other y8 block.

We did no cutting or splicing of wires . . . timing belt is new. We are using all the old components from my old motor such as the head, all the sensors, transmission, alternator etc . . .

I don't understand what could cause my car to run pretty ok when it is first started up, yet as soon as it warms off the ECU is cutting it and making my car die. it doesn't even attempt to to stay on it's just as if the power to a house was cut.

Someone help!

well living in Hawaii and starting the car when it's cold it usually idles about 1200-ish, but now it idles at about 1800-2000rpms when you first start it

I will be sure to check the vacuum lines. I was hoping that someone had a similar problem becuase I was running out of things to try. Where did you mix up the vacuum lines at so I can double check my stuff?

If you have AIM drop me a message at: vtec92civic

I will be trying to work on my car tomorrow afternoon again, so hope to hear from you before then.

Thanks people! If anyone else has something that I should try by all means please post up.
