Cap and Rotor

Cap and Rotor
Well I changed my sparkplugs because they were coated with oil and also did the wires too. When I went to start the car it would turn over and I could smell gas after a little bit, but it would not start. I take off the dist. cap and find it covered with white dust. The metal on the rotor looked kind of burnt. Could this be my problem? I would take pictures of them but I have a real shitty digital camera and it does not come out clear enough to really see what I am talking about.

Re:Cap and Rotor
About the gas Iam not sure.
But the rotor can sometimes give you that problem. Its
happend to me in the past. I would say to get a clean rag and clean up the cap and rotor a bit, If it works than go buy a new cap and rotor, might as well since you already changed the wires.

Re:Cap and Rotor
Well I cleaned them both up and still nothing.....My step dad said I was getting a little spark to cylinder 1 but none of the others. The cap on the little metal prongs look like its worn out they are not straight picture this lC looks almost exactly like that on each one.

Re:Cap and Rotor
once my car went out on me when I was driving home, I dont remember what the problem was but I left it at a parking lot. the next day I went and checked it out and the cap and rotor were replaced and the car started up. If your cap and rotor look real bad just buy a new set and see what happens there not too much.
Is there gas below the car.
