can a tps sensor go bad??
just swapped throttle bodies. put the tps on the new TB in the same position, plug it all in and now it is throwing a code 7. which i believe is the tps.
ive unplugged and replugged everything and i still cant get the code to go away. the car runs and i can drive around but im afraid to take it out on the main streets incase it reads backwards and ***** my ---- up or something.
any ideas?

Re: can a tps sensor go bad??
Its probably just grossly out of adjustment, however Ive never personally had a CEL from that.
Probe the center wire with a multimeter and adjust it to .5v w/ key-on @ closed throttle.
Your car is totally safe to drive w/ a code 7, I wouldnt worry about it.

adjusted wrong can they go bad sure but 99 percent its adjusted wrong
If your lazy adjust again. drive up the street get up to 50mph lay it down into 2nd allow the car to slow itself down. If cel comes up tps is still off
Or just bust out the multi meter

make sure you get the slots in the rivet deep enough so the head won't 'strip'. I didn't and had to grind the rivet off. now my tps is held in by 1 rivet. it throws a code, but that might be the fact that i have a 4 wire o2 z6 in a cx 1 wire o2 shell. i'm lazy and hadn't checked the cel cause the car ran and thats all that matters for now.

Score the rivets with a hacksaw blade so that you can use a flat head screwdriver. Replace them with bolts or just leave them as they are now standard screws.
