i've asked this before but never really got a clear legit answer. i got a turbo d-series and i was wondering where to set my skunk2 cam gear to? stock was advanced 2 degrees, when i threw on the turbo i just set it back to stock. i heard if you retard it, it will help the turbo spool faster. but if you think about it, wont advancing it make it spool faster? help...

but why would your spark timing be advanced...
you're suppose to retard timing not advance it. so if my timing is retarded at the dizzy i should retard my cam gear
i'm lost! all the smart honda guys here and no answer for a basic cam gear question
come on....

I have always had better luck with advancing it. I advanced it with a stock cam and felt more power, then I advanced it with a turbo cam and felt more power. I have heard alot of people retard them and I don't understand how that works so well for them. I had problems if I retarded it and I lost power.

advancing the cam gives you more midrange and lower end power (torque) retarding the cam gives you a better high rpm hp... Experiment for best results. Ive heard for DOHC honda/acura (esp FI) its best to advance exaust and retard the intake cam, but idk for sure.

i can see why advancing it may help. i'm gonna try this weekend and see if i get any good results. i really dont care about low end power/torque. i'd rather have upper rpm power to pull on top end! we'll see....i going to the track this weekend for some race wars ---- and i'll see what gets me a better time...

honestly just leave it stock if your cam is stock.
