Default Cam gear differences?

Hey guys. I got a question. I'm pretty sure a cam gear from a 96+ civic will bolt to a 5gen civic cam, but what's the difference? I picked up an AEM gear for $40, but it's for a 96+. Is it just the marks on the gear (where it's zeroed), or what?

it might be of a couple of degrees. you will need to line up the keyway on the gears, and see if the tdc marks line up

my question is does a cam gear on a sohc engine really make that much of a differance? i can see on a B series with 2 cams..but you have no seperate adjusts on single...anyone really notice any real power increase with a single cam gear?

Nope, you advance it, you get power at the bottom end, but takes it from the top end..

Retard it, takes power from the bottom and puts it up top.

so its pretty pointless, unless you have some cam you are trying to dial in.

Stock cams? Now thats a different story, I always encourge a fatty lope on a cam.

Stock Cam gear on a single cam.. Ya I wouldnt worry about it. But the Aftermarket ones are a tad lighter! BONUS! hah
