buying built ls head 56k no way!!!lol

ok so im getin a steal on a built ls head. and was just wanting to get some info from anyone who mite have exp. with it.

the head im getting has an awesome port job on it from star racing (http://www.starracing.com/mmachineshop.php)

it also has some bowl work. the head actually has ben ported by the same guy twice because the first time he didnt know how far he could go before getting into the watter jackets and then later on found a just head to play with and was ported somemore after that and hte porter said it will make a world of diff.

the shop is very very reputable. and my friend is good friends with the porter so he got the hook up

1mm oversized ferrea valves and some aftermarket motorcycle valvesprings that fit. and a custom ground cam for the head.

my ? is - is this head gonna suffer on a stock ls intake and cheap header? i plan on buying a nice 4 to 1 later on.

my plans are to spray a 75 shot with crome for tuning for a while then next year put together a sweet turbo setup for a nice 400 hp.

will post pics of hte ported head next to the stock head when i pull the nice one off.

regardless im getin a hell of a deal for 600.

Re: buying built ls head

he had an edelbrock intake on it.\

his set up was a sleeved 1.9 with 10 to 1 comp. pistons and a gt40 and 4 inch exhaust. he never got it completly figured out and kept ------ up bearings so he bought a bike.lol.

I get 20+whp from my manifold/tb combos on stock heads do the math

and unless the porter is just a 4 cylinder guy be rest assured the head proably sucks. I have yet to see a head thats been worth a damn from old school v8 head porters

You can only GUIDE them so far no pun intended

he only does 4 cyclinder heads all day long for the pst like 10 years. they held the record or still do im not sure for fast et on bikes. the friend im buying it from knows hte guy pretty well.

im still playing with the idea of building a motor for the spray. i got some b16 pistons i can toss in there and spray a 75 shot.

yea i was wondering the same thing. but this head has gotta flow pretty damn good to spool up a gt40. but a stock vtec wouldnt be as good as this head anyways cuz the stuff thats already in it including cam, valves, cam gears.

yup Ls heads IMO are trash if your trying to do the all motor thing. Actually they are I mean how many 200+whp motors do you see with a pr4/p75 head proably a handful. Now how many ls/vtec's make that almost anyone with some basic work will reach in that range.p8r head well thats another story Im sure someone has made some wild power with that head

boost its fine
