Default Building NA d15btec with all OEM honda parts. Help me out?

Ok so I wanted to do this for awhile and never got around to doing it. I started last week and now I have hit a wall.

Things I have
d16z6 head, P&P saved 40
d16a1 over sized pistons
d15b2 block decked to hell and back
Rebuild parts etc etc

I have run into a prob. I want to spray this motor when Im done. But I have little girl d15b rods. LS rods into a d15? If so what bearing would be used? Im lost. I did read the LS rod write up and all it said was ---- about d16s. I want to use the 1.5 block. Any help? Can you use the rods the same way with the d15b? Any other OEM rods that arent so girly I could mod to work? Let me know cause I want this done before a up coming race we are going to have down here soon.

Im going with a CBR1100r ITB set up on this car as well.

I've tried that setup before, runs very nice...you'll be happy with it. Now, couple problems that i see though...number one is the rods. Unfortunately, d15 rods have different size journals than d16's and b18's. So unless you want to go through huge amounts of work to try and machine a d16 crank into your block, you're pretty much beat. I even checked into using a d15b7 crank, because some dumbshit manual that i had said it had the same sixe journals as d16 for rods, but the main journals are supposed to be the size of d15b2. Not true. Nevertheless, the d15 rods have stood up to alot of abuse in that motor, so unless you plan on juicin' way more than is even sane, they might actually hold. Problem 2...the d16a1 pistons are nice...nice dome to them, only problem is they don't sit level with the deck. They actually sit about halfway between the peak of the dome and the lowest part of the top of the piston. Not a big deal though, still bumps c/r up a little. Problem 3...you're going to need an adjusable cam gear in order to get the valve timing right. Reason is, d15 crank gear has one less tooth than a d16. It'll run if you use a stock gear, it'll just feal (and pull) like it's off a tooth, be it advanced or retarded. If you have any more questions about the setup, drop me a message if you want...i'll be happy to help ya out.

honda oem parts are expensive, i spent over $300 on seals only, and that was with an emplyee discount.

A True D15B VTEC uses D16 rods, so that is not a issue, finding pistons to fit will be.

D16 cam on a D15 = use a 96-00 cam gear and your timing will be fine.

Still, you'd be money ahead to sell some parts and buy a D16A6 or D16Z6 for a starting point.

but your title is building a d15b NA motor ??

dude to be honest with you i have a d15b7 mini me with

z6 head with zex cam port and polish
true time cam gear
ported intake mani and throttlebody
8lb flywheel
z6 tranny
intake header exhaust

and your best bet is to boost it or at least get a d16 bottom end, like mista bone said. for how much time and money you going to put in to that little d15 bottom end it will never be all that fast. so trust use dude take the advise of people who been threw this ---- befor

I think Im just going to get a b7 or a6, slap some tunertoy rods, JE pistons, pin it and boost. ---- this NA ----. To much bullshit. I dont know enough about building a NA motor to take on this project.

N/A is hard to build, but boost is not? Not sure i understand how that is, usually it's the other way around. Just alot more theories come in to play when trying to make good power as N/A. Alot more theories come in to play when boosting just to figure out how to keep it from blowin' up. Oh, and thanks for the info on that cam gear Mista Bone...now i can get my gear back from the guy who took my old motor
