I just pick up a Y8 head with the green cap broken on the vtak solenoid.
Would it still work or I have to go get a new cap or solenoid?

I believe thats the oil pressure sender, Ive never hooked mine up because I used a piggyback to controll vtec, If your using obd1 wiring to run the engine you will need a new sender, or if the pins are there just hook your wires to those. Otherwise they just screw out and I believe all are the same, b/d series.

 

That's a non-"vtak" head dummy. You have to go to Radio Shack to get "Vtek" maybe, you should go to Honda and ask them about this fangled thing called "VTEC"

 

unbolt it yes it will unbolt go to honda and ask them for that part same thing happened to me when i swapped my motor in i broke that cap you do need this to be plugged in if your using a stock computer to activate vtec
