Default brake pedal arm too tight against brakelight button/sensor

my brake pedal arm is putting to much pressure on the little rubber grommit that pushes in my brake light button and it keeps breaking the gromit is there a way to adjust the pedal or should i just put a small bolt threw the arm instead of a rubber gromit? any help would be great.
