brake pads?

hope this is in the right place didnt think it much of a tech question.

I need some new pads soon.
for a 95 teg. I think I have some hawk pads on there, but i dont remember and im too lazy to check.
want better than stock but not something nuts that's loud and has loads of dust.
just a better than average pad for heavy street use. I drive 60+ miles each way on a mountain highway everyday.
also if anybody has a suggestion on where to pick some up for a moderate amount of money that would be appreciated as well.

I went to napa, or autozone.. lol i know there is a big difference between them.

the place i usually go to is similar to a napa and get the lifetime warranty.. cheap brakes.. hold up pretty decent.. but when they are worn out.. i take them back for new ones..

my friend went to autozone for the same thing.

personally, i use bendix pads they are the greatest thing that ever exsisted. :) you can get em at CSK (Checker / Shucks / Kragens) they are great. low dust, LONG LIFE, wonderful all around :)

Im more interested in a pad a bit higher performance than a lifetime warranty type pad. thanks though.

You could go with greenstuff or redstuff pads. Just go look around. If you don't have any clue that means that you havn't searched this site or google even.

I have a clue thanks.
Im asking for some input from someone who has experience with higher end pads and has some suggestions.
Have you used either green stuff or red stuff?
green stuff has a tendency to scar rotors, not so interested in those. how did the reds feel? did they take a while to warm up or did they heat up quickly?

If you dont have a clue dont bother responding.

Re:brake pads?

With the green stuff you just have to match them to a proper rotor.

I have also run hawk pads. They are good, but I didn't think they were worth the money for what I did with them. I jsut ran them because I got a deal on them. Porterfield are also good.

I would jsut suggest running OEM grade pads. Unless you do AutoX or something.

Alright, lemme break this down to you, you didnt wanna listen to my advice about the pads i suggested, Im a brake tech bro. none of the higher end pads will have any effect on your rotors, the green and red stuff EBC pads are meant for cross drilled or slotted rotors, you wanna stop? get some semi metalic pads, they will rip up your rotors nice but they will still stop when hot, if you want cheap ---- get ceramics, they wont last, they will leave lots of dust and they wont stop when they heat up.

knowing you, you're prolly a pad slapper, meaning by this you dont turn your rotors and/or drums you just slap new pads on and call it a day, if you have a lip on your rotor edge chances are you need a new damn rotor, there is a spec on the inner back of the rotors, mic em out and if they are .020 or more above, cut em, if not take your ass and buy some rotors. like i said before, Bendix owns.

Re:brake pads?

That is what I was saying about the greenstuff pads, you have to have the proper rotors and you are good to go.

If you don't get your rotors turned or replaced, then just shoot yourself.
