Default Block Questions

Hello everyone, I have a question about over boring the cylinders, should I do it and if so by how much?? I have a ZC engine and I am planning on running a turbo after building the bottom end. I am looking at getting JE pistons and Eagle rods, right now the engine is apart and sitting in my front hall way I just have to take the block to the machine shop and than I can start to order parts..... So please give me your input.

Chris

I was thinking of boring it .20 over, but will that make the cylinder walls too thin?? If so, I will just get the machine shop to hone out the cylinders....

Sounds good to me, I'll get the machine shop to go .20 over, I was concerned with the cylinder walls not having enough meat to withstand 8-10 psi, since you are running 20 psi, I think I will be fine. Thanks for the reply.

But I do have support on my cylinder walls. its called pinning/posting.

You can get this done through. www.theoldone.com runs around 300 bucks.

I dont recommend a block guard either..

Did you have the pinning done because you plan on running high boost or because you over bored your cylinders?? Will I be fine without pinning running 8-10psi?

mainly for high boost, you should be ok with 10psi
