No, it's not an alternative to sleeving. It's considered, by some, an alternative to using a block guard though. Use the search function and ignore anything with Kyle's name ;)

There is also a writeup on the main page under Tech projects (Yes, that is a link to it)

well it is an alternative to sleeving for those not looking to go all-out. however, ive heard people talk of d-series blocks taking upwards of 350whp with no block mods. posting is easy and seems to hold up though

I believe its also called 'block pinning' and i think a properly installed block guard will do the trick much better.

The sleeved are only reinforced in very small spots (where the posts or pins are) and it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me i guess.

the right spot is right where the thrust axis point or whatever is (like 2/3 up)...thats where the most stress is. "properly installed block guard" sounds like an oxymoron to me. anytime something is forced in there, even slightly, makes no sense imo. if it was a loose fit and was welded in, thats a diff. story

I would do a block guard before I would ever do block posts. I think block guards got a bad name from the shitty ones on Ebay for $20. The shitty ones ususally block the coolant passages to the head causing the heads to warp and everything.
Block posts I think are really bad cause they create high stress points on the sleeves. Everybody has their own opinions though.

Unless my image is broken? In that case, I'll post another block:
