biulding D16a6
hey guys now that i have the motor for the car, i wanna biuld it. i am pretty set on forged pistons and rods sets that i wanna get.
But the question i have is should i re biuld the head? it has 170k on it? would it be worth rebiulding or not? if so what does it take, PRICES? is it hard to do. i have all the time in the word to do it, but wanna know the skill level needed to do it. i am confident that i can do it, just needed a little directions. ANY help is greatly appreciated!
thanks

Re:biulding D16a6
Take the head to a machine shop and have them take it apart. Have them do a good valve job, and put it back together. Most likely under $100 and if your not going to rev the motor higher than it was intended to rev, you don't have to do anything else.

Re:biulding D16a6
well i already have a custom turbo kit one it with my d15. its nice but i beat the crap out of it...i figured if i got a d16 and biult it i would be good for 10psi with my afc all day long with out any problems. so thats what im wokring on doing

Re:biulding D16a6
one thing there hotrex, the compression will raise quite a bit from a6 to z6 heads. unless he wants to do more tuning and more work... i'd say ---- it, if he does he'll have to get a V-AFC or Fields and then get the z6 distributor and re-wire that to the obd-0 plugs and thats more work and around the same amount of money spent if he did headwork and cam.

Re:biulding D16a6
th vtec head is a far better choice. a cometic thicker headgasket is like 59 dollars and if you were to put a crower turbo grind in the z6 or y8 head , then your really better off. also with raised compression you can run less boost to make the same power. its all relative. personally id rather run more compression and less boost to achieve the same result, as you have way better off boost response.

Re:biulding D16a6
home much does it cost to get a valve job on a a6 head? and what am i looking at on prices for new valves? I am trying to keep this swap as close to 1000 plus or minus alittle. but so far this is what im gonna do,
D16a6 swap, forged rods pistons, posted block, valve job and new valves. and what i intend to do is run 10psi with afc and 450 injectors. does this make sense...and jsut so you know this is al plained for 2 months from now
