Default better gas milage

yea i know thers threads for this already but i searched and coulndnt really find wat i wanted to know. all the infol is in different spots.

so i wana get some better gas milage outta my 93 si. so i figure just pull about 5 clicks of fuel out of the last 4 colums. then i read that u need to advance timing for this.i thought i should retard it to be honest but now im kinda confused. i have a wideband that ima put on there ina few weeks when i get time but i just wanna pull some fuel out now.

also you burn less gas at peak tq rite. so cruisin at like 3500 rpm is gonna net better milage rite.

i have confused my self pretty well and to top it off i just took over the family bidness so im streessin on that a lil. lol. anyhow give me some hints

look over the maps and decide for yourself.

I know one for the Z6 didn't do so well but it's been so long I can't remember which!

whould a d15b trans be better for high way mpg vs a ek dx coupe/sedan (4.085 FD or so)

the d15b what ever it is i know it has higher revs on the free vs y8 ek ex coupe trans about 250 rpm diffence at 80 mph (personal expiriance i had the vitara motor mated to the y8 first in the hatch then the d15b in the coupe)

the y8 is livig its final days in my brothers hatch vtara eagel almost no dog teeeth left on 3rd lol

4.058 tranny is perfect for gas mileage, what I used to get 53 mpg.
