Default beemer problems, talk to me

i just bought my girl a beemer, an old 85 325E

bought it pretty cheap so dont mind fixin a couple things on it, so heres the skinny

started it up earlier today, had it runnin and idleing for about 2 minutes, it died, i got it to start once more, and it wouldnt rev past 2K with the gas even all the way in

i took off the fuel line to the fuel rail and the rail is dry, the line doesnt give any gas while cranking, and doesnt prime

since it had started before, that lead me to belive it was out of gas.. i put some in and i still dont get any gas outta the line

so now im searching for new problems

i have the fuel pump as #1 possibility (only cause i cant think of any others) but i wanna be sure before i spend $200 on a new one... ------ foriegn cars and there expensive parts

so anyway, give me some ideas, any help is appriated

Sounds like the fuel pump is dying. if its an electric fuel pump use a jump wire in the diagonstic port for the fuel pump and go listen and see if it sounds loud and strong.

check for voltage to the pump while cranking. If tis bad buy an aftermarket pump.
