battery in trunk dragstrip rules?

Re: battery in trunk dragstrip rules?
johnny we got bugged about this at PIR for Alec's car.
Has to have a kill switch (he just uses a little toggle switch on the back bumper to kill battery supply via a relay, and unplugs the alternator before tech inspection (plugs it back in after tech)
also they say it has to be in a battery box. alec has a plastic marine one but PIR gave him a little flack about that, says it has to be a summit style aluminum one secured down.

I heard they look for only two things:
- Kill switch
- Battery Box mounted Correctly (i.e. Won't move around a lot)
As far as venting, as long as your box has holes that look like vents. But that's here in San Diego. I dunno about any other places.

Re: battery in trunk dragstrip rules?
So Cal gets sweated every time at Fontana. What they've told us......
Battery box can't be plastic (marine type) Never heard anything about having it vented.
Cutoff switch has to kill all the pos+ and the alternator ma-bobber so it kills the car.
They always give us ---- for having a HELLA plastic shut off. They say it has to be metal.
Mount it good, and I think that's all I've ever heard (multiple times. lol)

Re: battery in trunk dragstrip rules?
well heres my deal.
i got the box secured to my trunk like a ****. with 4 9/16ths bolts, i think im good there.
the vent i will just drill a hole in the bottom.
i DO NOT want to punch a hole for a kill switch on the back of my car. but i guess i have to?
with the relay thing, how does that work? what do i get to use it.
does it just tap into the main + cable and then to a little switch?
thanks guys. i ------ hate techin, they always bust your *****.

Re: battery in trunk dragstrip rules?
yeah the relay is just a box that your main hot lead runs thru, and you feed a basic toggle to it too.
gotta pop that hole in the back tho, no getting around it.
alec did his under the bumper, you cant really see it.
