Re: b20 heads compared to ls head?
dont belive what? want to see my dyno graph? the cams picked up 20 wheel hp alone... the 50 i was refering to was crank power cause i never dynoed my b20z stock. i dynoed my b20b stock and with my b20z i am now making 55 WHEEL hp more NA

i curerntly have crower 62404-2 cams, its there NA race cam. MY POINT was that YEAH the stock parts they come with are crappy but you know what? i made ALOT of power by replacing them and it only cost ~700 bux for cams valvesprings and intake manifold. its very cheap to make big gains on non vtec motors.
this is homemadeturbo.com though NOT nonvtec.com so im not gonna try and go into super detail about my motor or plans for it my point was only that the b18a head is the "worst" of the non vtec heads and the origional poster would bennifit from upgrading.

Speedy made 340 whp @ 12 psi with a 2.0 LS, unported small ported head, short duration (250 instead of stock 230) high lift cams, stock valves. Those are OMG MAD TI-ITE 3RD GEAR V-TECH Y0 numbers, for a fraction the cost.
Yes, the cams suck. Non-VTEC cams are not expensive.
Swapping B20B/Z intake and exhaust mani's for their OEM LS equivalents makes 20 whp gain alone.
FYI, Mr Cushing, from what I understand the Crower 404 is equivalent to a GSR VTEC lobe. So you make what "stock part" B20/VTECs, with I am ASSuming a half to full point more CR, put down off of a " better flowing" VTEC head. Hrm, I think mototune guy is right about port size.

Re: b20 heads compared to ls head?
i have stock 9.6:1 cr... like i said im makin about the power that stock ls/vtecs make. these crower cams are bigger than stock gsr cams though, adv 276 duration and 11.3mm lift.
id be hard pressed to say the stock LS parts make 20 hp more though. i dynoed my bone stock 8.8:1 b20b with all my obd2 ls parts and it made 112 hp, its rated at 126 at the crank. what REALLY makes a huge difference on b20's is an aftermarket header and 2.5" exhaust. huge gains there.

Joe Rogers on the Hybrid board paid for dyno-tuna back in the '99-00 Hybrid board era. Had a B20Z swap in a hatch, it probably already had exhaust + suchlike, as he'd had the car for a while and it had several different swaps over the years.
