Default B17A good?

I got a chance to get a 92 civic hb si for $2000, needs paint, not worried about that. It has the first gen. gs-r engine in it the B17A. Is this motor worth gettin into as far as are the parts available and how well do they interchange with the other B18's. By parts I mean bolt ons. Also is the motor strong as fas as running 10-15psi on stock internals or would it be better to run 6-10psi to keep the motor together. Any input is appreciated.

take that motor out and put it in storage or sell it... that is one of the rarest motors in the world and if you turbo it i will have to kill you... j/k, put it on ebay man, you will get quite a bit of $$$... enough to get an ls that you can boost to hell and have money to modify it(b17 has slightly high compression)

the only diffrence of teh b17 and b16a is the crank. you can stick a B17 crank in a B16 and it will be a B17 then (remember to get the pistons too lol)

So why is it not good for boost if the only thing different from the b16 is the crank?

Since it is a rare motor i probably will end up swapping motors to a b16a. With this motor can i use the stock tranny and wiring harness, etc. In other words can i take just the B17 motor out and bolt the B16A right up and plug it in?

yes, your the b16 will bolt right up and plug right in, you can use your tranny also. the b17 would be fine for boost, it just has a little high c/r, but i think it's the same as a b16's c/r, so you really wouldn't gain anything by swapping one for the other. as far as parts for it, basically anything for a b16 you can use for it, i'm not positive about rods, but i'm sure the pistons are the same.

accually the B17 has slightly LOWER compression. it uses flat top pistons that give about 9.5 to 1 CR.... the motor also uses the same head as every B16A/ITR its the PR3 head...

i got one of these motors yesterday and for SUPER CHEAP, when my buddy went to pick it up the shop owner said "why would you want this POS motor?"
